Deepavali, also known as Diwali, is one of the most awaited festivals. This year, Diwali falls on November 4. The festival of lights celebrates the victory of good over evil. According to Hindu mythology, Diwali marks the return of a victorious Lord Rama to the city of Ayodhya after vanquishing Ravana. To celebrate the festival, people begin shopping days in advance, they deck up the house, buy new clothes, and make sweets and other delicacies at home. 🔱🎇😍❤️🎆🤗

In the lead-up to Diwali, celebrants will prepare by cleaning, renovating, and decorating their homes and workplaces with Diyas (oil lamps) and Rangolis (colorful art circle patterns). During Diwali, people wear their finest clothes, illuminate the interior and exterior of their homes with Diyas and Rangoli, perform worship ceremonies of Lakshmi, the Goddess of Prosperity and Wealth, Light Fireworks, and partake in family feasts, where mithai (sweets) and gifts are shared.
